Sports Nutrition Labs Premium Omegas contains a super premium and synergistic blend of wild deep-sea sourced fish oils and borage oil because, when it comes to fatty acid supplementation, synergy makes sense. Among the many facts demonstrating the importance of this synergy are that eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) can lower the body’s natural production of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and vice versa. EPA helps keep GLA metabolism in an anti-inflammatory mode. In addition, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) plays as many important roles in human health as EPA, with an added benefit to brain function. Therefore, for optimal benefit it makes sense to take these fatty acids together. Many studies also support the benefits of flax seed oil which is included to round out this formula to be a truly comprehensive omega formula.
Sports Nutrition Labs Premium Omegas delivers four beneficial fatty acids in one softgel: EPA and DHA from fish oil, GLA from borage oil, and ALA from flax seed oil. EPA can interfere with the body's natural production of GLA, which is why it is so important to take both together.

Premium Omegas is tested to guarantee to be free of heavy metals and PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), and is the purest omega oil formulation we are aware of on the market today.

Ingredient Profile

Ingredients Borage oil (GMO-free*), molecularly distilled deep sea fish oil (anchovy, mackerel, sardine), flax oil (GMO-free*), mixed tocopherols (vitamin E), gelatin, glycerin, purified water.

Ingredient profile:

Borage oil:
Borage oil is derived from the seeds of the borage (Borago officinalis) plant, a large plant with blue, star-shaped flowers found throughout Europe and North Africa and naturalized to North America. Borage oil, contains gamma linolenic acid (GLA), a fatty acid that the body converts to a hormone-like substance called prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). PGE1 has anti-inflammatory properties and may also act as a blood thinner and blood vessel dilator. Borage oil is the richest source of GLA.

Molecularly Distilled Deep Sea Fish Oil:
Omega 3 is the single most important essential nutrient that is almost entirely missing from our diets today. There is now overwhelming evidence from thousands of clinical studies that Omega 3 can improve health and help prevent disease -- including lowering triglycerides, general heart benefits, improving brain functioning, as well as helping with diabetes, strokes, depression, arthritis, allergies, circulation problems, ADHD, Alzheimer's, skin disorders, gout, and many others. The problem is that it's very difficult to get Omega 3 -- which is available in fish oil -- in a pure form... without high levels of dangerous contaminants. Unless the fish oil is molecularly distilled, it most likely contains high levels of hazardous contaminants.

Flaxseed oil:
Flax Seed Oil is a blue flowering plant that is grown on the Western Canadian Prairies for its oil rich seeds. This natural oil (also known as Linseed Oil) is highly recommended for the general well being and whole body nutrition and is considered to be nature's richest source of omega-3 fatty acids that are required for the health of almost all body systems. Flax Seed Oil contains omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 essential fatty acids, B vitamins, potassium, lecithin, magnesium, fiber, protein, and zinc.

Vitamin E:
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that exists in eight different forms. Each form has its own biological activity, which is the measure of potency or functional use in the body. Alpha-tocopherol (α-tocopherol) is the name of the most active form of vitamin E in humans. It is also a powerful biological antioxidant. Antioxidants such as vitamin E act to protect your cells against the effects of free radicals, which are potentially damaging by-products of energy metabolism. Free radicals can damage cells and may contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and cancer. Studies are underway to determine whether vitamin E, through its ability to limit production of free radicals, might help prevent or delay the development of those chronic diseases. Vitamin E has also been shown to play a role in immune function, in DNA repair, and other metabolic processes.

* A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using the genetic engineering techniques generally known as recombinant DNA technology. With recombinant DNA technology, DNA molecules from different sources are combined in vitro into one molecule to create a new gene. This modified DNA is then transferred into an organism causing the expression of modified or novel traits. The product is also known as a Genetically Engineered Organism or GEO.
The term "GMO" has historically been defined as organisms whose genetic makeup has been altered by conventional cross breeding or by "mutagenesis" breeding, as these methods predate the discovery of the recombinant DNA techniques. However, this term is now interchangeable with Genetically Engineered Organism.
